Hopped a plane to Sao Paolo, Brazil to play with the gorgeous and talented Gloria Gaynor. Grateful for such a pro band with a great sense of humor and loving spirit. What an honor!
Off to DC in the morning (alarm goes off in about 6 hours, guess I should get some sleep!) to tape the Mark Twain Awards for PBS. Honoring Ellen DeGeneres. Lots of funny people will be there - and the band is kick-ass.
That is all for now. I have to unpack and pack! Yikes!

Back out in Sag Harbor to continue the Big Maybelle gig - the cast and crew are beyond wonderful. 2 shows tomorrow, hoping my face will breathe and live fully with me through it! Loved having the family out last weekend - it made me a little sad today when I walked to the theater without them, but the cool thing is that they're in my heart like crazy. I can feel them. And I believe they are breathing and living fully as well.

The show runs Tuesday, August 7 through Sunday, September 2. Showtimes are Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8pm with Wednesday matinees on August 15, 22, and 29 at 2pm and a 4pm matinee on Saturdays August 18 and 25. Sunday showtime is at 7pm. Whew! 3 flights and I'm finally home! What a tremendous week at Western Michigan University - the International Women's Brass Conference was inspiring! Thank you to the IWBC for gracing me with the honor of being a featured performer, and thank you to Getzen for allowing me to hang at the booth and talk to all sorts of wonderful musicians, pro and amateur, all ages. It was nice to hang with some familiar faces and great to meet new ones! A lot of good memories!
My show on Saturday night with trombonist Jennifer Krupa and the Western Jazz rhythm section was a lot of fun and inspiring! 2 different styles, our original compositions merged so nicely, our styles weaved in and out flawlessly, as if we wrote them with each other in mind. The band was terrific - good enough for me to hang at the club after our gig and play some more! Even though I had an early wake up call and 3 flights to get home! And I was exhausted, but exhilarated.
